The Halo Redefined

Monogram Mania

I was never the sentimental type until I found the love of my life and we started our family together.  Six years of marriage and three wonderful little boys later, I find myself gravitating towards anything and everything personalized and monogrammed.  There is something to be said for that little feeling I get when I put that special piece around my neck or on my wrist.  A little reminder of my loves to carry with me for the day and something sparkly and stylish to satisfy my taste.  So when I came across this new monogram collection at our office a few weeks ago, I knew I had found my next piece to treasure forever.

Right away, I fell in love with the monogram bracelet.  Everything from the petite chain, to the font style, to the disc shaped monogram was perfect.  I was even happier to find that it was available in any color of gold or silver, and that it didn’t cost a fortune!  I immediately ordered my personalized bracelet in high polish yellow gold with my three boys initials in the center, and 10 days later it was mine.  It hasn’t left my wrist since this day and it will forever be one of my favourite pieces.

The collection also features other beautiful ways to wear this stunning monogram.  The necklace options are abundant and completely timeless and the cufflinks would make a fantastic gift!  There are even stud earrings that are so unique and different.  I would never have thought to style a monogram that way!

Get Inspired on Instagram

Instagram Instagram 2If there is one jewellery store that you need to follow on your Instagram account, then it has to be us, Minichiello Jewellers!  My sister, Crestina, has taken this project under her wing and has been up to some pretty amazing things!

Arm Candy

arm candyLooking for a little arm candy to sparkle up your summer wardrobe?  Well, look no further as these three bangles might just do the trick!

With everything summer brings like bridal showers, surprise engagements, family get togethers and most importantly weddings, dressing up is almost a daily occurrence.  And to me, the funnest area to dress up is the wrist!  We have a lot of fantastic styles in our counters this summer but I thought these three bangles represent three different looks and three different price ranges perfectly.

Lets start from the bottom and work our way up!  Our Emile Charles, Pod Bangle is hand crafted right here in Vancouver and set in high polish, 14k white gold. It has lovely, colorless, round brilliant cut diamond pave accents and has just the right amount of flex to slip over your wrist.  The bangle at center is our Elegant Diamond Bangle that consists of three amazing rows of the most beautiful diamonds you’ll ever see! It even has a hidden clasp so there is no distracting from all the brilliance and shine.  On top, you may think that you see even more diamonds but if you look really close, there aren’t any in sight.  This beauty is actually comprised of a diamond cut texture that wraps around the bangles entirety giving you a glammed up appearance on an everyday girls budget.

These three bangles are amazing alone but even better together and so classic in style that you will love them forever!

Best in Show

Best In ShowA definite perk to being part of a family jewellery business is being able to take part in some of the most wonderful jewellery shows and conventions around the world.  A personal favourite of mine is the annual, JCK Las Vegas Jewellery Show which brings together the best of the best in jewellery design and loose diamonds and gemstones from around the world.  Every year we are excited to see the new and noteworthy pieces on display from upcoming designers as well as those we have already grown to love and adore.  This year there were many standouts and many brilliant pieces but these gorgeous bracelets definitely won my heart.

The best in show, as far as I’m concerned, has to be these ultra flex, woven bangle bracelets set in a variety of metals from yellow gold, to rose gold, to white gold and even silver.  Each bracelet consists of tightly woven strands that provide just the right amount of flexibility making every day wear so simple and easy.  They can be perfectly summed up as classic with a bit of an edge making them the epitome of style for your wrist.  There is one for every occasion from every day flair to just, plain WOW!  Hands down my top pick for unique style and substance but stay tuned for more sparkly highlights from the show.

Interlocking Inspiration

Interlocking InspirationAre you on the quest for the perfect wedding band?  A band that matches your engagement ring perfectly and fits like a glove?  Well, sometimes this band is hard to find and if you are having trouble, than look no further.  Custom is for you and I have just the right amount of inspiration!

This beautiful set pictured is custom work at its finest.  It belongs to a wonderful couple saying “I do” this year and a couple that found luck with an interlocking stunner.  It all started with the beautiful, cushion cut diamond engagement ring.  Finished with such great detail from every angle and micro pave set diamonds to flash light in every direction.  It was gorgeous enough on its own but needed a wedding band to make it traditionally complete.

The couple decided on a custom,  interlocking, diamond wedding band that would sit flush and mimic the intricate detail on the outer edges.  A wax mock-up of the band was the first step to give the couple an accurate idea of just what to expect.  From there, the casting, the setting of the diamonds and the finishing of the metal was complete and the result was a true, interlocking inspiration.

Emerald City

Emerald CityWith the month of May swiftly underway, lets checkout all the beauty that comes with it.  May not only brings this beautiful sunshine but it also brings its stunning birthstone, the Emerald.  Vivid green in colour  and unmistakable for any other gem, the Emerald is considered one of the top three precious gemstones of all time.

These three jewellery pieces to the left are just a sample of the styles that bring these great Emeralds to life.  Often paired with colorless diamonds to enhance and compliment, you can find Emeralds most commonly in rings, pendants, and earrings.  While you will sometimes see Emeralds set in bracelets, this pairing is often not typical as Emeralds are very soft in nature.  The possibility of chipping or breaking an Emerald is much higher than with any other gemstone, so for this reason, they are typically set into pieces that won’t be subjected to very much wear and tear.

Another tidbit of information about this lovely gemstone, is the Emeralds special clarity characteristics.  It is extremely rare to find an Emerald free of inclusions and if you do, it will cost a pretty penny!  Because of this, it is acceptable for Emeralds to have eye visible inclusions and still be considered high quality.

Any way you look at it, the colour of the Emerald is what brings it so much attention.  Known as a symbol for harmony, love of nature and simple joie de vivre, the fierce green colour will draw you in and make you forever an admirer.

Color Crush

color crushI have a major crush on this next jewellery item and it’s the color that got me.  It is the most wonderful shade of violet I have every seen.  Not too bright and not too subtle, not too blue and not too purple.  This Violet Amethyst is right on the mark.

Not only is the Violet Amethyst beautiful but so is the diamond setting that holds it secure.  If you are a loyal follower of The Diamond Diaries, you may recognize this setting from my previous post Green With Envy.  It has a soft, cushion shape outline that is encrusted with tiny, micro pave, round brilliant cut diamonds.  There are two rows of diamonds around the Amethyst at center and one row of diamonds down each shoulder.  This sparkly detail is all framed by high polish white gold and intricate, open filigree work.  A piece so lovely that it had to be mentioned twice.

If you are in the area, stop by and check this one out.  Who knows, you may find yourself in a little color crush too!

Linear Love

Linear LoveAt last, a little attention to all those men out there looking for the perfect band to show their commitment.  Or, perhaps more appropriate, a post for all the bride-to-be’s looking to give their men some direction?!  In any event, I thought it was time to show our male clientele some love and share some stand out options in our men’s wedding band selection.

Gone are the days where you would only find a handful of options for mens wedding bands.  As expressing individual style through jewellery is becoming increasingly more important for men, so is the importance of offering a wide selection of bands for them to choose.  These three bands are only a glimpse of what we have to offer but I chose them because they each have a commonality and popular design element to them.

Linear angles, hard edges, and stainless steel finishes are all main features among these three white gold bands.  Each with their own pattern but all evoking the same masculine yet unique feel.  The stainless steel finish that has been applied tones down the shine and makes sure no one feels flashy.  For the contemporary man wanting something a little edgy but still a bit classic, the linear love these bands are giving are definitely worth a try.

 

*all bands are available in 10k, 14k, and 18k yellow or white gold, as well as 19k white gold and Platinum.  bands are custom ordered for each individuals finger size, so as not to break the pattern.  order time is approximately 3 weeks.
